United Way of St. Charles Celebrates Largest Campaign in History,
Raises $3,462,716
United Way of St. Charles announced at their Victory Celebration on Thursday, March 21st that they have raised $3,462,716. This total represents the largest campaign in the organization’s history.
“I could not be more proud of the Valero St. Charles employees for beating their goal and raising over $1.17 million for United Way. We achieved 100% participation which means that each and every employee at the site contributed to positively impact our community and meet the most critical needs in our society,” said Jerry Stumbo, Valero VP and General Manager, and UWSC Campaign co-chair for 2018-2019. “The St. Charles employees are some of the most hard-working, generous people I have ever met and I’m pleased to work with them day in and day out.”
In addition to Stumbo, other 2018-2019 Campaign co-chairs include Chief Rodney Madere, Chief Deputy of St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Teddi Touchard Roberts, Community Outreach for St. Charles Parish Hospital/Ochsner, and Laurie Guichard, United Way of St. Charles Volunteer.
“It has been a great pleasure to have co-chaired the 2018-2019 campaign,” said Teddi Touchard Roberts. “I would like to thank everyone who has helped enhance and change lives through their generous contributions. Being the largest campaign in the United Way’s history is a testament to the support and commitment by our local residents, industries and businesses to the services provided to our community by this organization. I am honored to be part of our United Way and look forward to additional projects and services that will be instrumental to our community as this year unfolds.”
The Victory Celebration, held at Cypress Lakes Country Club in Destrehan, announced the accomplishments of United Way of St. Charles’ Annual Campaign and recognized companies with success in their workplace campaigns.
Companies such as Valero St. Charles Refinery, Shell Norco Manufacturing Complex, Dow St. Charles Operations, Bayer, OxyChem, Entergy Waterford 3, Zachry Group, and Cornerstone Chemical Company, received top honors for success in campaign improvement, employee per capita giving, corporate giving, percent participation, and leadership giving.
“I'm grateful and honored to be part of our United Way of St. Charles,” said UW Volunteer Laurie Guichard. “Being a co-chair allowed me the opportunity to give back to the United Way after they've given so much to our community.”
Also recognized at the Victory Celebration were the non-industry campaigns of St. Charles Parish Public Schools, Beaed of Louisiana, St. Charles Community Health Center, AM/PM Staffing Services, St. Charles Parish Hospital, First National Bank USA, Arc of St. Charles, St. Charles Parish Government, United Way of St. Charles, and St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The Excellence in Partnership Award was presented to Arc of St. Charles, A Safe Space of St. Charles Domestic Violence Program, Boy Scouts, CADA, Creative Family Solutions, Crisis Assistance Program-St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Epilepsy Alliance Louisiana, Metro Centers for Community Advocacy, Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, River Region Drama Guild, Second Harvest, St. Charles Parish 4-H Clubs, St. Charles Community Health Center, St. Charles Parish Council on Aging, St. Charles Parish Hospital Auxiliary, TRIAD-St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, VIA Link 2-1-1, and Youth Empowerment Project, in celebration of United Way of St. Charles partner agencies who conduct a campaign.
Several St. Charles Parish Public School sites were honored as well, including Landry Alternative School, The Satellite Center, Central Office, Allemands Elementary School, R.K. Smith Middle School, Luling Elementary School, New Sarpy Elementary School, Ethel Schoeffner Elementary School, Harry Hurst Middle School, Albert Cammon Middle School, Destrehan High School, St. Rose Elementary School, and Pupil Appraisal.
Valero St. Charles Refinery was awarded the highest honor of the night, receiving the UWSC Spirit Award in recognition of the best overall United Way campaign. In 2018-2019, Valero St. Charles Refinery increased their total by 2%, raising $1,171,441 for United Way.
“United Way of St. Charles would like to thank all the local industries, businesses, and individuals for their hard work in making this campaign a success. You all should be very proud,” said John Dias, UWSC Executive Director, as he addressed the audience of company leaders and campaign coordinators.
